ATLANTA—Asian/Pacific-American Council (APAC) President Varinee Sangmalee said everyone should come to see Shen Yun Performing Arts after watching the show at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Aug. 21.
“Rarely can you see this kind of talent," she said. "It is all cooperated, united, together,” Ms. Sangmalee said.
The New York-based company’s reawakening of ancient China’s traditional culture is brought into the 21st century for audiences to enjoy.
“The outfits—oh, just breathtaking!”
She attended the show with her husband, Dr. Umpon Sangmalee, who endorsed his wife’s comments.
“I like this show because it showed the beauty and culture of the Chinese, and it showed the development of the civilization and culture. It is marvelous. I like to see it every year and learn.”
The couple missed last year's performance because of another engagement, but they would not miss any future shows because it is getting even better every year, Ms. Sangmalee said. "So real—I love that."
Ms. Sangmalee said the Shen Yun emcees explained perfectly the far-reaching effects ancient Chinese culture has on the global community.
Exquisitely costumed artists, a line-up of award winning musicians and vocalists seamlessly move from one scene to another. China’s famous legends, folkloric tales and modern-day stories captivated Ms. Sangmalee.
“I think it is the beautiful fairy tales that we can celebrate internationally, not just for Chinese people [to enjoy]. Every dance, every show is marvelous... it seems like the performers are putting everything into it.”
